Since the release of the theme to "Miami Vice", no instrumental has reached the top of the Billboard chart.

  2. The Harlem Shake reached #1 in 2013. One of my favorite songs ever, Juke by Little Walter, went #1 in 1952.

    1. The Harlem Shake has sampled vocals in it. It is NOT an "instrumental". It is MOSTLY instrumental. Jan Hammer's "Miami Vice" is still the last one to hit #1.
